The international captain’s role is to take the responsibility of Fuksi upbringing of new exchange and master’s students. This includes planning and organizing events for them, help them integrate into the Finnish student life, help them find new friends and help them find their place in Aalto so they can become Teekkaris!
International captain works as a part of the guild’s Phuksi committee, consisting of the fuksicaptain(s), ISO-responsible and the responsible ISO’s. You will organize most of the guild’s fuksi events together with the PhTMK, so don’t be afraid - you won’t be dealing with everything alone!
As the international captain you will also be a part of the AYY’s KvTMK (International committee) where you will get to work with all the other international captains of all the other Teekkari guilds in Aalto. Together you will organize big events for all internatioinal students as well as internationally minded people, such as International and Grand International Sitsit, and, together with FTMK, all the events leading to the possible Wappu. The committee is there to also help and support you whenever you face some difficulties so you don’t have to necessarily figure them out yourself. You will also meet amazing people, perhaps even life long friends.
The role of International Captain is 1.5 years long, starting already in January and lasting until the possible Wappu '26. In the spring you would help the current captain with events, as well as meet and bond with your PhTMK and KVTMK. In late spring - early summer you would be preparing the fuksiguide for the next year’s fuksis and planning events for the year. Then from August until possible Wappu '26 you would regularly organize events for your fuksis and look after their fuksi upbringing.
The position of International Captain is time-demanding, so expect to dedicate sizeable portion of your time to it throughout the year. The happiness of your fuksis would be a plentyful reward for your time though!
Applications for the role are personal, but you can indicate on the application if you would like to work with a partner, and if you wish, who that partner might be. The Former of the Board will listen to the wishes, but will ultimately look for the best combination of captains. There’s no need to find a partner in advance!
