Olen Niklas Järvinen eli Nikke ja olen toisen vuoden tikkiläinen. Tänä vuonna olen aktiivisesti ollut auttamassa pelitoimikunnassa, ja homma oli todella kivaa, minkä takia nyt haen game masteriksi 2024 eli pelitoimikunnan puheenjohtajaksi. Ajattelin, että tämä on luonnollinen etenemissuunta, sillä haluan ottaa enemmän vastuuta ja vaikuttamaan pelitoimikunnan järkkäämiin tapahtumiin vielä vahvemmin.
Pidän monenlaisista peleistä laidasta laitaan, muun muassa FPS peleistä, tappelupeleistä, RPG peleistä, roguelikeistä ja lauta- sekä korttipeleistä. Tämän takia, koen että minulla on laaja kokemus erilaisista peleistä, ja pystyn toteuttamaan laajasti erilaisia pelitapahtumia.
Mielestäni tämän vuoden pelitoimikunta on asettanut todella hyvän mallin pelitoimikunnan toiminnalle, eli pidetään useammin kasuaaleja (lauta)peli-iltoja, ja sen lisäksi muutamia isoja tapahtumia kuten TiKlan. Tänä vuonna on myös tehty paljon yhteistyötä marttakerhon kanssa, ja joskus muiden kiltojenkin. Ehdottomasti pyrin, että tulevanakin vuonna tehdään paljon yhteistyötä eri killan toimikuntien sekä muiden kiltojen kanssa. Näin useimmin pääsee tapaamaan uusia ihmisiä, ja saadaan myös tapahtumiin monipuolisempaa tekemistä. Tapahtumien kustannuksien jakaminen auttaa myös budjettia paljon. Tänä vuonna on myös lähdetty elvyttämään killan Discord serveriä, esimerkiksi serverin yleisellä siivouksella ja Minecraft-serverin avaamisella. Haluan jatkaa tätä projektia, jotta Discordista voisi tulla yleinen keskustelupaikka, josta voisi muun muassa löytää peliseuraa.
Tavallisten (lauta)peli-iltojen lisäksi, pelitoimikunta voisi myös järjestää muunlaisia tapahtumia, kuten esimerkiksi, peliturnauksia tai peli-iltoja tietyille peleille, jos löytyy kiinnostusta. Näitä muita tapahtumia pystyy myös hyvin liittää yhteen yleisten (lauta)peli-iltojen kanssa, jotta niissä voisi olla monipuolisemmin erilaista tekemistä. Pieniä tapahtumia pystyy myös järjestämään helposti kiltiksellä, jolloin säästettäisiin budjettia isompiin juttuihin. Kuitenkin loppujen lopuksi pelitoimikunnan toiminta perustuu erittäin vahvasti siihen mitä koko toimikunta haluaa tehdä. Sen takia haluan kannustaa erittäin vahvasti tulevia toimareita tuomaan esiin heidän omia ideoitaan, jotta saadaan monia näkökulmia ja näin monipuolisesti erilaisia tapahtumia. Haluan että kaikki, joita kiinnostaa pelit vähänkin saisi pelitoimikunnan tapahtumista jotain irti.

I am Niklas Järvinen or Nikke and I am a second-year computer science student. This year I have been actively helping at the gaming committee, and it has been really fun, which is why I am applying for game master AKA the chair of the gaming committee for 2024. I thought that this is the natural way to go, since I want to take more responsibility and have an even bigger effect on the events organized by the gaming committee.
I like many different kinds of games, including but not limited to: FPS games, fighting games, RPGs, roguelikes and board- and card games. This is why I think I have a broad experience of different kinds of games, and I can organize many different gaming events.
In my opinion, this year’s gaming committee has set a great example for the activity of the gaming committee. That is, often arranging casual (board)game nights and few larger events, such as TiKlan. This year there has also been a lot of cooperation with the grandma club and sometimes with other guilds. I definitely want for this cooperation to continue, and that maybe the gaming committee can also cooperate with other committees as well. This way we get to meet more new people, and the events will have more things to do. Sharing the costs of the events also greatly helps the budget. This year we have also started reviving the guild’s Discord server by cleaning it up and opening the guild’s Minecraft server. I want to continue this project, so that the Discord could become a common place of discussion, where you could find people to play with, for example.
In addition to the regular (board)game nights, the gaming committee could organize other kinds of events, such as game tournaments or game nights for specific games. These other events can also easily be attached to regular (board)game nights, so that there could be more stuff to do there. Smaller events can also be easily held at the guild room, which can save some budget for bigger events. However, in the end the gaming committee’s action is largely based on what the whole committee wants to do. That is why I want to strongly encourage the coming gaming committee members to present their own ideas, so that we can get different perspectives and different kinds of events. I want that everyone interested in games can get something out of the gaming committee’s events.
